Piil
An elevated retreat
Piil ® is an elevated architectural retreat with a sculptural, cantilevered form. Lifted above the ground, it creates distance from the everyday through a heightened sense of space, privacy, and long, carefully framed views across the landscape.
Set among the trees, Piil recalls the experience of a treehouse — looking out from within the canopy — while remaining an independent structure that leaves the surrounding trees untouched. The name Piil comes from the Estonian word piiluma — to peek or glimpse — describing an architecture shaped around outlook, perspective, and retreat.
Piil is now available worldwide.
Piil experience
Every Piil is a carefully crafted architectural retreat — compact in footprint yet complete in experience, a treehouse for adults elevated in form and function.

Design statement
Piil is elevated above the ground on a single supporting leg, creating a sculptural, cantilevered form that appears both bold and weightless — standing proud while remaining attuned to its surroundings.
This elevated position creates separation from the ground below and frames long, uninterrupted views through generous glazing — shaping the atmosphere and character of each stay.
Layered space
Piil is organised across multiple levels, encouraging movement and discovery.
A sheltered terrace at ground level leads up to a bright living space above, with a suspended mezzanine forming a third, more relaxed layer.
Each level offers a distinct relationship to the surroundings, allowing the landscape to be experienced from multiple heights. Together, they create a retreat that feels far larger than its compact footprint.
Modular precision
Piil is designed as a series of prefabricated modules, crafted in Estonia with a high level of precision and care.
Each module arrives with its key elements already in place, connecting seamlessly on site to form the complete retreat.
This approach ensures reliable quality, reduces on-site construction time, and allows Piil to be installed with minimal impact — even in remote or sensitive locations.
Complete comfort
Behind Piil’s minimal aesthetic lies a technical rigour that makes it a year-round retreat. Triple-glazed windows and high-performance insulation form the basis of its environmental performance, with discreet heating, cooling, and ventilation integrated into the architecture.
The result is an interior that feels calm, comfortable, and welcoming in every season.
Integrated joinery
The interior of Piil is conceived as a single, continuous piece of built-in joinery.
Warm, tactile elements are carefully integrated to form a complete living environment, with spaces for rest, work, dining, and storage seamlessly woven into the architecture.
This approach creates a calm, high-quality interior that feels generous and composed, despite Piil’s compact form.
Suspended space
Set above the main living area, the hammock mezzanine offers a distinct place to pause. Suspended between structure and view, it feels removed from the everyday while remaining immersed in its surroundings.
It is a space for rest, reflection, and quiet escape.
Grounded ritual
The bathroom is conceived as a calm, enclosed space — a place to slow down and reset. A skylight above the shower brings in shifting, dappled light from the canopy, turning a simple routine into a quiet moment with nature.
The shower floor and adjacent bench are finished in Accoya pine, adding warmth and tactility while maintaining durability. Subtle details — underfloor heating, a demisting mirror, and a generous vanity shelf — quietly elevate the experience.
Ways to inhabit Piil
-

Private retreat
A place to step away from the everyday — as a summer house, guest space, or personal retreat.
-

Creative Sanctuary
A dedicated environment for focused work, thinking, and making.
-

Hospitality
A refined accommodation offering for hotels, retreats, and small clusters.
Scalable by design
The design of Piil is intentionally directional, framing selected views rather than opening on all sides. This allows multiple units to be placed side-by-side without compromising privacy, outlook, or experience. As a result, Piil works equally well as a standalone retreat focussed on a special view, or as part of a small cluster — offering clarity, efficiency, and consistency for hospitality or professional-led developments.
Next steps
Piil is now available worldwide.
To maintain quality, the retreat is produced in limited numbers, with early access offered to those who enquire first.
How this works
1.Request the Design Guide
Share a few details about your interest in Piil via the Enquiry page.
2. Personal response
Each enquiry is reviewed individually before the Design Guide is shared, typically within one working day. The guide outlines pricing, available versions, customisation options, key dimensions, and technical information. Requesting the Design Guide does not commit you to a purchase — it’s the first step in understanding whether Piil is right for your site and intentions.
3. Further discussion
If you’d like to proceed, we arrange a video call to discuss site context, feasibility, timelines, and next steps. Following this, a personalised quote is prepared. Once approved, production can begin.
